The short version: TabFlow runs entirely in your browser. We have no servers. We collect no analytics. No data about your tabs, your workspaces, or your browsing ever leaves your device. This policy exists to be transparent about that.
1. Overview
TabFlow is a browser extension built on a privacy-first principle: your data stays in your browser, full stop. There are no TabFlow servers, no cloud storage managed by us, no analytics pipelines, and no third-party integrations of any kind.
This privacy policy describes what data TabFlow accesses, where it is stored, and confirms that none of it is ever transmitted to us or to any third party.
2. Data we access
TabFlow only accesses your browser tab data in two situations:
- When you click the Save button to create a new workspace
- When you click the Update button to overwrite an existing workspace
In both cases, TabFlow reads only the URL and title of each open tab, along with the tab's favicon URL (used for visual identification in the workspace list). TabFlow never reads tab content, cookies, form data, passwords, or any other browser data.
No data is accessed passively in the background. TabFlow's background service worker only monitors which windows are open (for the auto-save-on-close Pro feature) and responds to messages sent by the extension popup — nothing more.
3. Data we store
All data saved by TabFlow is stored using the browser's built-in storage APIs:
- chrome.storage.local — used for all workspaces and extension settings. This data lives exclusively on your device. It is never sent anywhere.
- chrome.storage.sync — used optionally by Pro users who enable cross-device sync. This data is synced by Google Chrome to your Google account using Chrome's built-in sync infrastructure. TabFlow has no access to this data beyond reading and writing through the Chrome API. See Google's privacy policy for how Chrome sync data is handled.
Stored data includes: workspace names, tab URLs, tab titles, tab favicon URLs, timestamps, and your extension settings (theme preference, plan status, feature flags).
4. Data we share
We share no data with anyone. Ever.
TabFlow has no backend servers. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting service, no analytics tool, and no advertising network integrated into the extension. There is nothing to share because no data flows out of your browser.
5. License keys (Pro)
TabFlow Pro is activated with a 16-character license key. This key is validated locally within the extension — it is not transmitted to any server for verification.
Your license key is stored in chrome.storage.local
alongside your other settings. It never leaves your browser.
Payment for Pro is processed by our payment provider (Paddle or equivalent). Any billing data is subject to that provider's privacy policy — we receive only the license key to deliver to you. We do not store your payment information.
